Plainfield has a brief history of presidential/candidate visits. In the mid-80s, Ronald Reagan drove through Plainfield on his way to Danville and Mooresville. In 1840something, Martin Van Buren visited Plainfield via the National Road (US 40). Legend has it that the condition of the road was so poor that Van Buren was bumped out of his coach. A rock and a tree in front of the Quaker church mark the spot where he unceremoniously landed.
Update: Any Hoosiers wanting to attend the event will need a free ticket which can be obtained online through the Obama campaign.
