Though it happens far too infrequently, it’s always a happy day when members of Congress are indicted. Such is especially the case when said member of Congress is a spoiled, entitled, spendthrift like Ted Stevens.
Several years ago, the Senate was debating a particular pet project – something like ‘should Congress hand-deliver millions of dollars of federal funds to Alaskans or simply use the USPS?’ – when some senator, whose name escapes me, raised the issue of wasteful spending by the government in Alaska. It is no exaggeration to say that Ted Stevens threw a tantrum on the Senate floor, demanding that the remarks be stricken from the record or else he would resign.
I was greatly disappointed that not one Senator took the oppurtunity to say, “Don’t let the door hit you on the way out, Ted.”
