Let’s Stop This

Just after bragging about my beloved hometown of Plainfield, it seems that the Plainfield Plan Commission has approved a Meijer store on the land formerly used for Little League baseball and soccer. The area is off of Dan Jones Road just north of US40, and rather close to several established neighborhoods. Let’s all write or call the Town Council and tell them that if we want over-developed retail, we’ll go to Avon. In the meantime, if you’d really like to shop at Meijer, they have 2 stores within 10 miles of the Dan Jones site – Avon and Camby. Additionally, Plainfield residents have a Target, Wal-Mart, and a massive shopping mall, several grocery stores and pharmacies, etc, etc, to chose from already.

Update: After discussing this with my better half, Alison pointed out that the new store will be along the bike trail system Plainfield is investing in. So, that is a plus for the new store, though I still wonder if Plainfield can support so many super-centers.
